New Delhi: The Central government is yet to announce the final date for the restoration of dearness allowance (DA) and dearness benefits (DR) for over one crore central government employees and pensioners. However, the government has come up with a slew of other benefits under the 7th Pay Commission that every central government employee must know.

House Building Advance In June 2020, the Central government rolled out House Building Advance (HBA) scheme to provide loans at cheaper rates to government employees who are planning to construct their houses. The government is offering loans at a 7.9% interest rate and the last date for applying for the scheme is March 31 2022.

Timeline for submitting travel allowance claims extended Recently, the government has also extended the last date for central government employees to submit their travel allowance claims to 180. Previously, central government employees used to get only 60 days to file their claims.

Pension slips via SMS and WhatsApp The Central government has recently started offering pension slips to its pensioners via SMS, Email and WhatsApp directly on their registered details. The decision was taken to provide convenience to pensioners.

National Pension System (NPS) benefits The Central government has recently brought simplifications to the National Pension System (NPS). Now Central government employees availing benefits under the National Pension System (NPS) can use the pension corpus available with the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

Medical reimbursement cap hiked The Central government has increased the medical claim limit by 5x for employees of the Navodaya Vidyalaya School (NVS). The limit of the medical claim of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti schools employees has been increased from Rs 5000 to Rs 25,000 per annum.
