The government has decided to extend the date of submitting Life certificate for them till February 28. This extension in date will also benefit those pensioners who are covered under 7th Pay commission.

Jeevan Pramaan Patra/Life certificate is a biometric enabled digital service for pensioners. Pensioners of Central Government, State Government or any other Government organization can take benefit of this facility. In fact, pensioners have to submit life certificate every year to give proof of their life. Usually, this certificate is submitted in the month of November, however in order to avoid gatherings during the coronavirus times, the government has extended the deadline for the same. Jeevan Pramaan uses the Aadhaar platform for biometric authentication of the pensioner. A successful authentication generates the Digital Life Certificate which gets stored in the Life Certificate Repository. The Pension Disbursing Agencies can access the certificate online.

Besides, a provision of separate window for submission of Life certificate has been made for pensioners above 80 years of age. It is to be known, acting on the government’s initiative, IPPB is utilising its national network of over 1,36,000 access points in post offices and more than 1,89,000 postmen and gramin dak sevaks with smartphones and biometric devices to provide doorstep banking services.
